History
Joseph S. DeJarnette, superintendent of Western State Hospital and a public advocate of Eugenics, created the sanitarium as a special pay unit of WSH until 1946 when the facility was seperated from the State Hospital and made into a sanitairum. then in 1972 the facility was changed into a child center. In 1996 the center moved to a new complex abandoning the original buildings.
