I have a question for those of you out there who have researched state hospitals. I have learned that a great-uncle of mine was a patient at the Eastern Lunatic Asylum, Lexington,KY from Sept. 1907 until his death of TB in 1913. He was buried at the asylum. Some members of the family have suggested that due to his being from the mts. of Eastern Ky. where no facilities would have been available for a poor man suffering from TB that he may have been sent to the Lunatic Asylum. I am trying to research to see if he had a mental illness or if TB was the issue. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
