W.J. Maxey Boys Training School is a state operated residential treatment facility for delinquent male youths, 12 to 21 years of age.  The facility is currently still in operation.  In the past the facility has served as a youth detention facility for varying levels of violent and non-violent offenders, but there is limited history on the site available.  The facility is currently under the directorship of Derek Hitchcock, an employee of the Michigan government and managed by the Michigan Department of Human Services.
