History

The Wyoming State Training School, originally named the Wyoming Home of the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic, was established at Lander in 1907, by the state legislature's enactment of Chapter 104, Session Laws of Wyoming. The training school was located on state-owned property which had formerly been used for the State Poor Farm. the purpose of the school was to care for the feeble-minded and epileptic. In 1921 it was changed to Wyoming State Training School, so it has had that name for years until law suit in 1990.
