Hello trying to confirm a long held story about my 5 time grate grandfather . William McKelvey of karori . Its believed that he was a turn key at the karori mental auslum in the 1850 to the time it clouded down . I know he was a gaurd on a early prison ship into Australia could have been called the Tory . I know he landed in wellington in the late 1840 as a early military personnel part of the first part of the 65the regament and early police hes recorded as a farmer in the 1870's . so yes if you know more of who was working there or more of why it was clouded please let me know
