Hello, My second great grandfather died in the Jackson County infirmary 8 October 1897. I have a letter from the superintendent of the infirmary. It states that he personally knew my great great grandfather, Thomas Gilroy, and personality helped in his burial. Thomas Gilroy was poor and disabled at the time due to injuries sustained in the Civil War. His family was living in another state.
My questions, is there a list anywhere of persons is buried in the poor house cemetery? It’s my understanding an effort was made in the 1970s to identify the people?
Has anyone located the poorhouse records from that time, 1897?
