History

The John N Dempsey Regional Center opened in 1965 in Putnam, Connecticut. [1]

An additional recreation center was built on the campus in September 1997 by the Army National Guard. The Guard Recreation Center contained slides, swings, see-saws, and an obstacle course. [2]

The facility is still open as the State of Connecticut Developmental Services Department, but patients are no longer housed there.
