History[edit]

The Waukesha Springs Sanitarium was constructed in 1903 as a large resort/hospital facility by Dr. Byron M. Caples, a well-known psychiatrist. The Sanitarium remained in business until 1941 when Caples retired. The building later served as a men's dormitory for Carroll College.
